Caffeine or decaff

Hola,,,,

As requested by preggy mother makbed, here goes the information for us to share.

Why pregnant mother are not encourage to drinks coffee?

coffee contains caffeine. caffeine can be harmful to some people when consuming in large amount. like pregnant women, caffeine may interrupt calcium absorption in the body.

not only coffee do contains caffeine, other beverages such as tea, sports drinks, soft drinks etc also contains caffeine

for pregnant mother, limit your coffee intake to 2 cups per day or you can substitute with decaffeinated coffee.

Caffeine

Caffeine can cross the placenta and affect your baby's heart rate. Some studies suggest that drinking too much caffeine may be associated with a small decrease in birth weight or an increased risk of miscarriage and stillbirth. In fact, a large 2008 study suggests that 200 milligrams (mg) of caffeine a day — about a 12-ounce cup (354 milliliters) of brewed coffee — during pregnancy may slow fetal growth.
Because of the potential effects on your developing baby, your health care provider may recommend limiting the amount of caffeine in your diet to less than 200 mg a day during pregnancy.
Decaffeinated drinks
Decaffeination is the act of removing caffeine from coffee beanscocoatea leaves and other caffeine-containing materials. (While caffeine-free soft drinks are occasionally referred to as "decaffeinated", some are better termed "uncaffeinated": prepared without adding caffeine during production.) Despite removal of caffeine, many decaffeinated drinks still have around 1-2% of the original caffeine remaining in them.

Caffeine content of decaffeinated coffee

Almost all brands of decaffeinated coffee still contain a minimum amount of caffeine.Drinking five to ten cups of decaffeinated coffee could deliver as much caffeine as would one or two cups of regular coffee
Caffeine content for coffee, tea, soda and more

Starbucks Espresso, 1 oz (30 mL)  ~ 58-75 mg

Starbucks Vanilla Latte, 16 oz (480 mL)  ~ 150 mg
